Hemigraphis colorata (Bl.)Hall.fil.

Prostrate plant with attractive purple colored leaves . Leaves are opposite , ovate , 4.5 - 8 cm wide , with blunt tip , rounded , heart shaped base , toothed margins . Flowers white , in terminal spikes up to 7 cm long . Flowers tubular , cylindrical below , Swollen above , 1.0 - 1.5 cm long and 5 lobed . calyx 5 lobed , lobes subequal ; corolla tube 5 lobed . Fruit capsule linear .

* It also cures venereal discharges and dysentery .

* The leaves in decoction are taken internally for excessive menstruation .
