Kalanchoe pinnata (Lam.) Pers.

Succulent herb . Stems branched , the leaf blade pinnately compound , 3–5 leaflets . The leaflet blades elliptic- oblong , apex obtuse , margin crenate. Inflorescence paniculate , terminal , many flowered . Flowers pendulous ; calyx tubular , corolla reddish to purple , the lobes are ovate-lanceolate . Seeds striate .

Medicinal Uses

* Heal wounds with minimal scarring.

* Leaf pulp applied topically as poultices for skin lesions , sores , inflammation and to arrest bleeding .

* Leaf paste applied to chest to relieve coughs or to temples to relieve headaches .

* Eaten fresh or dried to treat symptoms of diarhhoea , dysentery , cholera and dissolve kidney stones .

* Used to treat small pox.
