Erect annual or perennial herbs . Leaves decussate to whorled , obovate-oblong , base attenuate , margin crenate - serrate , apex acute . Flowers axillary , solitary or 2 ; white . Calyx lobes 2-3 mm , ovate-oblong , ciliate along margin . Corolla white 4-6 mm long , rotate , throat densly hairy , lobes spathulate . Fruit ellipsoid-globose capsule , septicidal ; Seeds truncate or four angled , reticulate .

*Hypoglycemic activity , cytoprotective and antioxidant potential (Misha et al., 2013) .

*Tender leaves are chewed and used as

highly medicinal for diabetic patient.

*Major source of herbal drug (Mishra et al., 2013) .

*Blood purifier , hepatic and stomachic .

*In low doses , often in milk used to releive vomiting in infants & in large doses induce vomiting to clear out digestive system .

*Fresh or dried plants are used to treat skin problems like pimples , impetigo , ulcers etc .
